#We design experiences! Change Traditional Learning Method to Digital Learning

Knowix can help you transform your traditionally taught courses into a format suitable for delivery online

Knowix can help you transform your traditionally taught courses into a format suitable for delivery online. Whether you prefer your learners to study independently online or in combination with face-to-face training sessions, Knowix has the expertise required for you to realise your initiative.

Knowix’s multimedia production is a team effort involving educationists, content developers, instructional designers, editors, graphic artists, multimedia programmers, animators and designers.

  • Content Scripts & Learning Designs; we will work with your subject matter experts to identify the key learning objectives
  • Instructional Design & Storyboarding; Internexia follows recognised instructional design methodologies. We include scene-setting elements, skill checks, competence-based paths and branching through the learning materials and user interactions to check knowledge and consolidate understanding.
  • We include progress checks, formal assessment and testing for feedback
  • Multimedia Production; we work with our customers to develop a unique look and feel for all content to match the customer’s corporate identity.
  • Quality Control & Validation; we work closely with subject matter experts at all stages (including design specification, writing, scripting, editing, creating) to ensure expected quality standards are maintained.

Knowix uses authoring tools that give a high degree of flexibility and control to users. We make sure our multimedia objects are fully optimised and streamed to ensure minimum download times. Our courses are produced to conform to international standards including SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and AICC.

There are four basic categories of training situations:

  • Software simulations – which enable users to familiarize themselves with new software applications by practising how to use the software in a realistic but safe, non-production environment.
  • Role-play scenarios – these are effective for teaching soft skills such as sales, customer service or leadership.
  • Task-based simulations – are used to teach how to perform critical tasks such as auditing a facility, setting up a work area or operating a piece of equipment. This form of learning facilitates learning in a contextual framework.
  • Business simulations – which enable users to learn about complex processes or issues by placing them in control of realistic business situations; such simulations may take the form of learning games which are sometime referred to as Immersive Learning Simulations (ILS).

Level 1 & Level 2 : Passive Interactivity, Limited Interactivity

Level 1 e-learning is a passive experience, where the learner just consumes information. There’s little to no interactivity with the course and the learner mostly reads and moves forward by clicking Next. In fact, some refer to level 1 as the “click next” style of e-learning because of its low level of interactivity. These courses include static text and images, and little to no multimedia. Quizzes in level 1 courses are usually straightforward multiple choice and true-or-false questions.

Level 1 e-learning, while simple, does have its place: it can be a quick way to cover simple rules or procedures.

At level 2, e-learning courses start to incorporate some multimedia. Courses at this level can contain audio, some video, basic animations, and a few simple transitions.

Level 2 & Level 3 : Limited until Complex Interactivity

At level 2, e-learning courses start to incorporate some multimedia. Courses at this level can contain audio, some video, basic animations, and a few simple transitions. This level of content is often accompanied by narration and click-and-reveal interactions. Level 2 quizzes start to incorporate drag-and-drop interactions and matching activities.

With level 3 e-learning courses, the interactions become even more sophisticated. In this level, you can expect to include extensive audio, video, transitions, animations, and more. Quizzing can involve branched, scenario-based questions that allow learners to explore multiple paths and feedback levels.

Level 3 e-learning is usually a good fit if you’re looking to teach learners more complex skills, for example, if you’re creating a course for new nurses on patient care.
